Facebook is truly trying to touch all spheres of life, Facebook Engineering Manager Tom Mulcahy says "our goal is to empower people all over the world to stay connected" this watchword has led the engineering team to come up with a new app, to allow basic android smartphone users to stay connected while using the low network connection, this app is called Messenger lite.
Messenger lite according to the developers is a slimmed down version of Messenger that offers the core features of Messenger for markets with slower than average internet speeds and a prevalence of basic Android smartphones.
Messenger Lite is under 10MB, so it’s fast to install and quick to start up. It includes Messenger’s core experiences such as messaging, sending and receiving photos and links, and receiving stickers. Messenger Lite uses the same bolt logo as Messenger, but with colors reversed. The bolt is blue with a white chat bubble background.
Messenger lite app hasn’t yet hit Google PlayStore, Messenger lite is said to first roll out to people in Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela. Other countries should be expecting the app in the next coming months.
