Google launched Google Assistant in 2016, an intelligence personal assistant that allows people to perform actions on their mobile device through voice control.

How Google Assistant works


This feature was exclusively introduced to Google Pixel and Pixel XL Smartphone, in February Google announce that the Google Assistant service will be extended to other Android phones.

According to Google, Android phones that will get Assistant update must HAVE these specifications

Operating System: Android 6.0 and above with at least a HD display.

1.5GB RAM

The phones that will get Google Assistant include:

  • Huawei P9
  • Samsung Galaxy S7
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 edge
  • HTC 10
  • HTC U Ultra
  • LG G5
  • LG V20
  • And many more

There is no guarantee that all phones with these specs will get the update, but Google hasn’t officially confirmed the device list for the Google Assistant upgrade.

US will be the first to get Google Assistant update, as at now, One plus 3 owners have started getting the updates and hopefully the update gets to other eligible devices soon.
